Moritz Grübel, born on 20 December 1995 in Wolfach in the Black Forest, began playing music in his hometown’s brass band at the age of 7 and learned the saxophone there at 8.

His passion for jazz flared up early on, which was always supported by his teachers and promoted by the Baden-Württemberg cultural academy of the foundation Kinderland “Fascination Improvisation.”

Workshops with jazz cats such as Joe Viera, Job Kraus, Libor Šíma and Klaus Graf laid the foundation for his musical studies, which he began in Nuremberg in 2016 with Prof. Klaus Graf, Prof. Steffen Schorn and Stefan Karl Schmid. 

He played in the Youth Jazz orchestra of Baden-Württemberg from 2016 to 2018 and was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Germany from 2019 of 2021.
